Recently, the hot move “The Informant Movie” has raised a heat wave. However, the point is not focusing on how good it is, but how hard in refining whether the comedy is funny.
As similar as other comedies in modern film age, the Informant Movie is a comedy that wants to amuse people, but it turns out to force people to laugh, because "The Informant!" is not very funny.
The movie is directed by smartest film director Steven Soderbergh and Matt Damon stars as whistleblower Mark Whitacre. But they can still make the movie as funny as people think. Director Steven Soderbergh spends too much energy smirking at the character's bad toupee and ugly ties. It's a smugly hip, I'm-smarter-than-you stance, poking fun at characters for their clothing choices, or turning up the "funny" music to tell you when to laugh (since you'd never figure it out for yourself). It doesn't work, to put it mildly. This is how people feel after watching this movie. The director must think: today’s people are too difficult to be amused. Are they?
Maybe. But the point is that Steven Soderbergh hasn’t figure out what amuse people today.
